Q. When are the courses and what days do you do your training? A. Eureka run 4WD Courses every day Mon - Fri (except public holidays). You will need to phone our office on (08) 9497 5655 for place availability.
Q. Where do you do your training?A. We have several locations for our training, dependent upon which course you have booked on to do. Most courses are conducted within 40 mins of Perth. You will receive full details of meeting locations and meeting times once you have booked. We can also conduct training on site.
Q. Is the course recognised by the mining companies as I need to work on site?A. Our 4WD courses are recognised by just about all of the worlds major mining companies. We conduct 4WD training for BHP, Rio Tinto, Boart Long Year, KBR plus many others. If you are not sure we recommend that you contact us on (08) 9497 5655 or the site manger for clarification.
Q. Which one of your 4WD course should I book on to?A. We have plenty to choose from. Most mining companies accept the SRODVR001B "Drive & Recover a 4WD Vehicle". However we can adapt any of our course to suit your particular needs.
Q. Do I need a 4WD Vehicle? A. Yes you will need to supply a 4WD vehicle to take part in the 4WD training courses. We suggest a vehicle similar to the one you will be using on site is best. It will need to have a low range gear box. A max of up to 3 students can share a vehicle if you are hiring a vehicle especially for the 4WD course.
Q. Can you come to site to conduct the 4WD Training?A. Yes we can but some conditions will apply. If it is a site where we have not conducted training before, we are going to need a full day prior to training to inspect the proposed training areas for suitability. We also have a minimum number of 8 students per day for on site training.
Q. Do I really need a radio?A. It's up to you, but we recommend it. A lot of information is given by our instructors via the radio whilst driving and it also helps the trainers "talk you through" an obstacle from a distance. The radios we use are UHF 40 channel and we use channel 18. It doesn't have to be an expensive in car radio as a hand held one will do the job. Good quality hand held radios can also be hired if you want to from Terlin Outbacker Communication, phone (08) 9455 4288. The cost to hire is about $27 for the day. They do have to be collected and returned to Terlin and they can be located at: 11 McElligott Court, Canning Vale 6155.
Q. What do I need to bring?A. You will need suitable clothing, strong shoes, hat and sun screen. What you bring to eat is up to you, but don't forget plenty of drinking water and any personal medications you may need. If you have recovery equipment please bring it but it's not essential as Eureka brings enough recovery equipment for everyone. You will also need a pen.
Q. What time do the courses start and finish?A. Most of our courses start at 8.45am, however finish times will be dependent upon track conditions on the day and student numbers. We aim to finish around 4.00pm but often run a little longer. This can also be extended should we encounter vehicle breakdowns etc. If you need to finish a bit earlier, please let us know at the time of booking and we will see what we can do. It may mean an early start. If training is being conducted on site, flight times will have a bearing on start and finish times.
Q. Will I need recovery points fitted to my vehicle prior to the course?A. Only if you are taking part in our "advanced" SRODRV002B & 003B courses. If however you are able to have recovery points fitted prior to doing our other courses, it wouldn't be a bad idea but is not essential.
Q. Will I need to purchase recovery equipment prior to the course?A. No you won't, we bring all the recovery equipment that would normally be required. If however you already have some gear, please bring it as we shall be able to have a look at it if you want us to. We also offer unbiased advise on recovery equipment and what you may need, so we could be saving you some money by you not buying equipment that's not suitable. Please note, we don't sell equipment.
