Don’t Let Tour 4X4 Burn to the Ground

I think it’s time we sat down and talked about what is possibly the single most crucial component to keeping our four-wheel-drives safe –  fuses.

Sure, putting in a UHF, installing some lights, or swapping out the plug on the back of our Travel Buddy 12-volt ovens or fridges from the ciggy plug to an Anderson plug is pretty straight forward. Red goes to positive, black goes to negative, and things light up and start working as they should. There is much more to it than that if you want to do things safely, and stop your rig from burning to the ground.

How to Keep Dust Out of Your Engine

Believe in global warming or not, there’s no arguing we see a lot more areas in drought. Combine that with our love of touring the outback of our magic country, and all of a sudden, we’re starting to see more than a few engines impacted by dust ingress.

Police Urge Patience Between Beachgoers and Drivers After Holiday Clash

Wheel Spacers are a Dumb Idea

Wheel spacers. There isn’t a day – no, maybe an hour – that goes by when someone doesn’t jump on the internet and mention, ask about – or try to justify – the use of wheel spacers under their 4X4.

The fact is, wheel spacers are illegal in Australia unless the manufacturer fitted them. The End.

Ford Adds New Everest Sport Variant for 2020

ORD HAS announced a new Everest model that sits in the line-up between the mid-spec Everest Trend and the top-spec Everest Titanium.

Called the Ford Everest Sport, the new seven-seat 4WD model can be had with either Ford’s 3.2-litre five-cylinder turbo-diesel engine and six-speed auto, or the high-tech 2.0-litre twin-turbo-diesel engine with 10-speed auto.

Bull Bar Protrusions in the Spotlight in South Australia

A Facebook post earlier this week by South Australia Police about bull bar protrusions has caused outrage on the Interweb but did opinion get in the way of fact? See, all around the country the various road services have been updating their regulations around bull bars, so as the law of what your bull bar can look like on the front of your vehicle is largely the same between the States and Territories.

But the SAPOL Facebook post which showed fishing rod holders attached to a bull bar and reminded vehicle owners that bull bar additions deemed to be a “hazardous projection” would attract a potential $498 fine and a possible vehicle defect notice drew thousands of critical comments. But this isn’t new news.

Toyota Hilux GR Still on the Backburner as Sport-Ute Category Grows

Toyota Australia is pondering how it might tweak the Toyota Hilux family to keep its hugely popular ute at the top of sales charts – and it’s not ruling out a performance model to do battle with the Ford Ranger Raptor, HSV Colorado SportsCat and Nissan’s incoming Navara Warrior.
