TLIC3004 Drive Heavy Rigid Vehicle (HR-A) (Automatic)

This course is designed to support participants in obtaining their Heavy Rigid (HR-A) vehicle licence with a restricted automatic gearbox endorsement.

The course includes a blend of theoretical instruction, practical driving experience, and a final driving assessment conducted by an approved assessor under the Department of Transport.

Participants will develop the essential skills and knowledge required to operate a heavy rigid vehicle safely and confidently, in full compliance with applicable state and territory transport regulations.

Pathway
A Heavy Rigid (HR-A class) vehicle licence allows you to drive a:
  • Heavy Rigid (HR-A) vehicle with 3 or more axles and a gross vehicle mass (GVM) greater than 8,000 kg
  • Medium Rigid (MR) vehicle
  • Light Rigid (LR) vehicle
  • Car
  • Moped.
You can also tow a trailer with a maximum GVM of 9,000 kg.
Earning your Heavy Rigid (HR) licence opens the door to a range of professional driving careers across transport, logistics, mining, and passenger services.

Duration:
This course is held over two days, including a practical driving assessment

  • All driver participants are required to hold WA Drivers’ Licence for at least 2 years OR an LR or MR Licence for at least a year

  • Retricted licence – allows you to drive automatic trucks only
