The Workplace Defensive Driving course enhances on-road safety and awareness, focusing on risk identification, WA road laws, and safe driving around wildlife, heavy vehicles, and on gravel roads. It covers 4WD systems, emergency braking, vehicle maintenance, and fatigue management to promote long-term safe driving habits in workplace environments.

The Group 4 course program consisting of 4 units of competency from 3 separate training packages is specifically designed for individuals required to operate a light vehicle both defensively on road and in varied harsh off-road conditions safely and responsibly whilst mitigating all the potential hazards that can occur during these operational conditions.
Focusing on the crucial role of safe vehicle operations, these qualifications impart the foundational knowledge and skills required for safe light vehicle handling operations, involving common hazards and procedures, with a strong emphasis on safety and operational efficiency. Participants will learn to take defensive driving and various off-road skills into their work environments, preparing them for essential roles within the resources industry.

Eureka 4WD Training have designed this course to give participants an introduction to Side by Side utility vehicles and their unique handling characteristics. As these vehicles can be potentially hazardous if used incorrectly, we have a strong focus on the safe handling techniques of these vehicles.

These vehicles due to their versatility and other factors have become a big part of various work environments such as farming, exploration, construction and mining industries.

Our aim is to provide participants the skills to safely and responsibly operate these vehicles within their work environment. Apart from the practical application of handling techniques we also focus on pre-operational checks, loading and unloading of the vehicles and transportation safety and the various legal implications that may arise.

This practical course covers the essential skills and safety procedures for performing a safe and efficient wheel change. Participants will learn:

• Pre-checks and hazard assessment before changing a wheel

• Correct use of jacks, wheel braces, and lifting equipment

• Safe posture and lifting techniques when handling wheels and tools

• Safe removal and replacement of wheels

• Torque and wheel fastening procedures

• Emergency preparedness and roadside safety considerations

• Hands-on practice under trainer supervision

By the end of the session, participants will be confident in performing wheel changes safely and effectively in both controlled and roadside environments.
