This course is tailored for individuals who are already familiar with the type of truck used in training, possess hands-on experience in mechanical industries, have a solid grasp of road rules or are quick learners confident in completing the training within a shorter timeframe.
It is specifically designed to help participants obtain their Heavy Rigid (HR-A) vehicle licence, endorsed for a restricted automatic gearbox. The program combines theoretical learning, practical driving instruction, and a final driving assessment conducted by an assessor approved by the Department of Transport.
By the end of the course, participants will have gained the essential skills and knowledge to operate a heavy rigid vehicle safely and competently, in full compliance with relevant state and territory transport regulations.
Pathway
A Heavy Rigid (HR-A class) vehicle licence allows you to drive a:
- Heavy Rigid (HR-A) vehicle with 3 or more axles and a gross vehicle mass (GVM) greater than 8,000 kg
- Medium Rigid (MR) vehicle
- Light Rigid (LR) vehicle
- Car
- Moped.
You can also tow a trailer with a maximum GVM of 9,000 kg.
